66 Books

In 1604, Puritan John Reynolds presented the millenary petition to change a few things within the church.
The signing of the cross during baptism
Infant Baptism
The administration of baptism by lay people (Sometimes mid-wives would baptize children.)
Wedding rings and a few other things that were mostly dismissed by King James

Ultimately, what did come out of it was a new translation would be made as consonant and as literal to the original languages as possible.

54 translators and scholars started on the work but some died during the process including John Reynolds, and others had to bow out of the project for personal or health reasons.  The plague was going on at that time.
