The 7-day Feast of Unleavened Bread starts on the 15th of Nissan which is Tuesday, April 23, this year 2024.

This commemorates when the Jews left Egypt in a hurry after the Passover when God killed all of the firstborn that didn’t have the sacrificial lamb’s blood on the doorposts.

They had no leavened bread because they were in such a hurry that they had no time to wait for bread to rise before leaving Egypt.

Today, it’s celebrated by a type of spring cleaning in which they get rid of everything that may have leaven in it.

They clean cupboards, drawers, and anything that might have even a crumb too small for a mouse.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread has a special High Sabbath on the first and the last days of the feast.

No leavened bread or anything containing leaven can be consumed, sold, or purchased for the week.

To the Christian, this is a picture of Jesus washing away our sins.

Our body, as a vessel, is cleaned out of all matter of leaven (or sin) when we become Born Again.

Stay tuned for another Pascha holiday celebrated on the next day, the 16th of Nisan: the Feast of FirstFruits.
