Jerome's Latin Vulgate is a clear 4th-century witness or earlier in knowing that the Vulgate comes right after the 2nd century Old Latin, Italic, and older Greek texts than that of Sinaiticus or Vaticanus. Scholars must explain away these historical chains of custody and providence when confronted with them, and rarely bring this knowledge to the forefront.
