The incredulous theory of the difficult reading is the most accurate is still in use for this verse. The reason Daniel Wallace, Westcott and Hort, and other “scholars” reject “without a cause” is that it is harder to explain the legitimacy of the verse than including it. No matter the evidence, the harder it is to explain, the closer to the original it is.  The Emperor’s New Clothes.

The word translated “without a cause” is the reading of the vast Majority of all remaining Greek manuscripts, including Sinaiticus correction, D, L, W the Old Latin copies of a, aur, b, c, d, f, ff1, g1, h, k, l, q, Ancient Lectionaries Syriac Peshitta Harclean Palestinian Curetonian Coptic Sahidic Boharic Gothic Armenian Georgian Slavonic (early versions) Constitutions of the Holy Apostles (200 - 400 AD), Book 2, Sec 6
