What’s In Your Bible: Acts 15-29 Halal and Idolatry.

"That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

There isn’t much that God asks of us that are not His Chosen people the Jews.

But there are a few things He asks. Gentile rules for us to follow are listed 3 times in the Bible.

Acts 15:29 {See above}

Acts 15:20 "... that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood."

Acts 21:25 "...keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication."

1st dietary rule on the list is abstaining from meats offered unto idols.

You may think “Nobody sacrifices food to idols in this day and age”.

Let’s look a little closer and see if this is so.

With the increasing Muslim population in our country, food that meets Halal guidelines is infiltrating our supermarkets.

Halal means “Permissible or lawful”. It’s associated with Islamic dietary laws.

Especially in meat processing and preparing in accordance with those requirements.

Before an animal is killed for food, the animal has to be facing east like Muslims do when they pray.

The animals are to be slaughtered upon utterance of the Islamic prayer "Bismillah, Allahu Akbar”

The slaughter must be performed by a Muslim. The blood drained and the name of Allah invoked.

Does this sound like an animal sacrificed to an idol or other god?

How can we tell if something is Halal?

There are stickers or logos that are put on the food in question.

If you see this logo, you know that a Muslim priest or cleric has prayed over the animal to a pagan god as it was being sacrificed.

Since Islam is a false religion with a false god, It would qualify as meats sacrificed unto false idols.

Does it matter? If it matters to God. It should matter to us. Since there are no gods other than God, it may sound like a waste of time, but God listed it in His word 3 times. We should probably heed to what He says.
