Mark 16:16
What’s in Your Bible: Mark 16:16 Faith or Baptism?
"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." Mark 16:16
This verse is used by some denominations to prove that Baptism is required for Salvation.
Notice the second half of the sentence: But he that believeth not shall be damned.
The key is belief, not Baptism. If you don’t believe but get baptized, you’re not saved, you just took a bath.
Baptism is a public confirmation of what happened spiritually in your heart when you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior.
Baptism does not save you.
Faith in Jesus Christ is what saves you.
Faith in believing that there isn’t anything you can do to earn salvation,
It’s only by what Jesus did on the Cross that gains you access.
Faith that your good works are as filthy rags in the sight of God’s holiness.
Faith that Jesus is your only advocate to the Father.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
(An advocate is your God appointed lawyer. He has everything under His control)
And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1 John 2:1
Jesus told The Thief on the Cross that believed in Him that he would join Jesus that day in Paradise, AKA Abraham’s Bosom or Paradise.
The Thief on the cross was not baptized after his faith, and yet Jesus told him that he would be with Him that day in Paradise.
(Paradise wasn’t heaven, but that’s another video.)
Acts 8:36-38 "See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. Verse 37 And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him"
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved."
Study to shew thyself approved unto God!
The Ending of Mark
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. — 2 Timothy 2:15
