What’s In Your Bible The issue of 2 years.

Matt 2:7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

When the wise men sought to inquire of King Herod where the new king was located, Herod diligently asked them when the star appeared.

They could have said it appeared a month, 3 months or 5 years before.

We’re not given that information.

What if the wise men had been travelling a month?

Does that mean Jesus was born when the star appeared? No.

It just means that’s when the wise men saw the star and hit the road.

Might God have wanted the wise men to be in Jerusalem at a specific time instead of the specific day Jesus was born?

Matt 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.

Herod was exceeding wroth. He already unalived his own children to protect his throne, what state of mind would he be in for this new baby king?

People of status are traveling for miles to see Him and then they sneak off instead of telling him?

Mass unaliving children gives an indication as to just how wroth Herod was.

If the wise men had said “we saw the star about a month ago, would it be possible in Herod’s rage he would say,

“Unalive all of the children 2 years and younger. I’m not taking any chances.

Lie to me! I’ll unalive your king.

“According to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men” doesn’t mean the wise men told him it was 2 years.

it simply means Herod made his decision to unalive the children 2 years and under.

Another oddity. If Herod’s diligent assumption that Jesus was 2, why would Herod include newborns, 1 month, 2 months and on up to 24 or 35 month olds?

If it was 2 years, there’s no way a newborn or 1 month old would qualify so what would be the rational for unaliving them?

If Jesus was 0-40 days old, then it would be logical in Herod’s unalive Him.
